There is nothing we need to do to earn salvation.  Jesus has done it all.  BUT we respond to God’s gift of salvation by serving God’s people.

"Faith that is alone--that does nothing--is dead."

Northlake Lutheran Church offers many opportunities for members to live their faith.  Some ministries are within our church community.  Some ministries take us to the public arena.  There is something for everyone!

Serving Our Church Members - We give thanks to God for the faithful and committed  members who make possible many of the programs and activities of the church:

  • Choir members
  • Assisting ministers
  • Altar Guild
  • Ushers
  • Sunday School teachers
  • Worship and Music Committee members
  • Evangelism Planning Team members
  • Social Outreach Team Planners
  • Church Council
  • Work Day carpenters, painters, etc.
  • Sunday Refreshment folks
  • Property and Financial Management Committee Members

Serving God’s Children - The Social Outreach Planning team carefully researches and chooses a number of good causes and ministries and projects in which the congregation participate.  Past social outreach projects include:

  • Angel Tree (Christmas gifts and a party for children of state inmates)
  • CROP Walk (to raise money to fight world and local hunger)
  • PADS Homeless Shelter
  • Leslie’s Place (a home for women recently released from prison)
  • School Supply Bags (partnering with the Mennonite Church)
  • Lutheran Family Mission
  • Northlake Lutheran Church Food Pantry (serving 100 families per month)

MICAH - Northlake Lutheran Church was selected to be one of the first ten congregations to participate in the Metropolitan Chicago Synod MICAH community organizing project.  MICAH seeks to strengthen the community and solve community problems through collective, faith-based actions in the name of justice and the common good.

Evangelism  - Northlake Lutheran Church presents an evangelism program
which includes a  jazz worship service (3rd Sunday each month) and a traditional service which will replace the 9:30 service on the first Sunday of each month.
